Job Summary:

We are looking for a Fully Remote Casualty Claim Specialist to join our Claims organization. This position is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of Homeowners Liability and similar claims. This position is also responsible for the accurate and timely resolution of litigated and non-litigated third-party liability claims in accordance with company guidelines and state regulations.

This is a fully remote position. Our customers are located in the Northeast so candidates must be able to work during normal EST business hours.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year

What you will do:
  • Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate settlements while applying technical knowledge and skills to effect fair and prompt resolution of cases.
  • Adjust reserves and provide recommendations to ensure reserving activities are consistent with corporate policies.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with all parties when answering questions and gathering claim information.
  • Adhere to company service and reporting standards.
  • Confer and direct legal counsel on claims requiring litigation, attend mediations, arbitrations and/or trials when necessary.
  • Resolve claims within designated authority level.
  • Maintain claim files with professional notes, claim summary, detailed analysis, and specific action plan with target dates.
  • Regularly review, monitor, and manage litigation expenses (motion practice, experts, investigators, medical records, etc.).
  • Engage with insured individuals, claimants, witnesses, medical professionals, and employers to gather comprehensive information, ensuring timely and accurate evaluation of claims.
  • Review claims investigated by external insurance adjusters or investigators and further examine any questionable claims to decide whether to approve payments or refer the claim to the Special Investigation Unit.
  • Deliver professional communication and reporting.
  • Prepare reports to be submitted to management for additional authority or coverage issues and present large claims to management with supporting documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and mentor less experienced staff.
What you will bring:
  • Four-year college degree (required).
  • 5+ years’ experience handling Homeowners liability or similar claims at an insurance carrier.
  • Subrogation experience, including Subrogation litigation (preferred but not required).
  • Continued insurance education and/or designations.
  • Licensing, or the ability to become licensed, in all states in which Kingstone polices are written.
  • A curious mindset, strong technical skills in claims, and a passion for the field.
  • A thorough technical understanding of insurance coverage and claim procedures.
  • A team player who demonstrates initiative and works effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Capacity to perform effectively in stressful situations.
  • Ability to travel as may be required to attend meetings, trials, mediations, or other legal proceedings.
