Job Summary:

We are looking for a Fully Remote Senior Casualty Claim Specialist, experienced in handling casualty/bodily injury claims. This position is responsible for managing, investigating, and resolving casualty/bodily injury claims, litigated and non-litigated, consistent with company guidelines and standards.

This is a fully remote position. Our customers are located in the Northeast so candidates must be able to work during normal EST business hours.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 per year

What you will do:
  • Investigate and evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and settle claims within designated authority levels.
  • Identify potential suspicious claims and refer to SIU and identify opportunities for third party subrogation.
  • Confer with trial counsel and prepare trial reports.
  • Communicate with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants to gather information regarding claims, and advise as to proper course of action.
  • Respond to various written and telephone inquiries including status reports.
  • Ensure adequacy of reserves and recommend reserve increases on cases in excess of authority.
  • Updates files and provides comprehensive reports as required.
  • Responsible for managing the practices and billing activities of outside counsel.
  • Present cases and participate in their discussion at weekly claim unit meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and mentor less experienced staff.
What you will bring:
  • Four-year college degree (preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience handling Casualty/Bodily Injury claims at an insurance carrier (Homeowners liability experience preferred).
  • Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
  • Strong competency of legal liability, general insurance policy coverage and tort law.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, negotiation and investigative skills required.
  • A strong team player with initiative and ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of company software programs.
  • Some travel may be required to attend meetings, trials, mediations, or other legal proceedings.
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred).
