Job Summary:

We are looking for a Fully Remote Casualty Claims Director, experienced in managing casualty claims. This position is responsible for the effective management of Casualty Claims including liability claims, coverage, and complex litigation within company guidelines and standards. This role is responsible for the effective leadership of the Casualty Claims unit including talent management, claims process, technology, strategic partners, and expense management. Accountable for delivering on Kingstone Claims Quality Standards of Accuracy, Customer Service, and Efficiency.

This is a fully remote position. Our customers are located in the Northeast so candidates must be able to work during normal EST business hours.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year


What you will do:
  • Oversee all aspects of claim handling for scope of responsibility including coverage, damage assessment, reserving, and timely resolution.
  • Coach, train, and develop staff in all aspects of technical claim handling and career development.

  • Complete Quality Assurance to achieve quality claim outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement for process and technology for work unit and Claims.
  • Provide effective claim management including file reviews, coverage analysis and decision making, litigation, reserve and payment approvals, and coaching/directing action as needed to achieve target claim outcomes.
  • Create and promote an engaging and positive work environment where all employees feel empowered, accountable, and valued.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability within Casualty Claims and across Kingstone Insurance.
  • Oversee all aspects of talent management within their area of responsibility including selection/hiring, retention, and performance management.
  • Adhere to and promote company policies on reserving, compliance, cybersecurity, and other business critical procedures.
  • Leverage data to understand trends, solve problems, and build effective plans for continuous improvement and step function increases in Casualty performance.
  • Be able to work under pressure and support the Property team in the event of a storm or catastrophe (CAT).
What you will bring:
  • Four-year college degree (required).
  • 10+ years' experience managing and handling complex Casualty claims including Homeowners Liability and coverage litigation.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing a complex Casualty Claims unit at an insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of New York law pertaining to Homeowners Liability, legal environment, and complex Subrogation litigation (strongly preferred, but not required).
  • Deep experience and knowledge of all aspects of complex Casualty claim handling including coverage, liability, evaluation, negotiation, and litigation.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivery outstanding results leading a complex Casualty Claims unit for an insurance carrier.
  • Proven ability across all aspects of the talent management lifecycle including attracting, retaining, and developing a high performing team.
  • Experience in improving process and leveraging technology to drive results.
  • Experience in managing legal partners to ensure excellent and cost-effective representation.
  • Willingness to work during normal business hours in the Eastern Time Zone.
